Had to ditch my Airbnb in Barcelona at 2am because the host's key code stopped working and their phone went straight to voicemail

After sitting on the curb for an hour with my luggage watching drunk tourists stumble by I finally booked a hostel that cost three times what I paid but at least had a 24 hour front desk, has anyone else had a host just vanish on them mid trip?

Oh come on. You sat on a curb for an hour with your luggage and that's somehow a nightmare? Sounds like a pretty standard travel hiccup to me. People act like a little inconvenience is the end of the world these days. You still got a room eventually, right? Maybe next time don't rely on some random stranger's key code and have a backup plan ready to go.

Wait, is this the new rite of passage for travelers now? I swear I've had worse luck with accommodations than a lost puppy at a dog park. One time in Rome my AirBnB host sent me a photo of a random door and said 'look for the yellow flower pot' and ended up camping out in a hostel lobby too because the keys were in a lockbox that looked exactly like the one in the photo but wasn't actually there. Guess we're all just professional curb sitters at this point, huh?
