Crash on night buses or trains to save cash and cover huge distances. I'd pack a neck pillow and sleep sitting up, then hit the ground running when I arrived. That trick alone saved me hundreds on hostels across Europe.

That neck pillow trick is a lifesaver for sure. Grabbing a window seat and leaning against the wall made those overnight rides almost comfortable.
