Soundbar vs budget receiver setup. I was dead wrong for 2 years.

I spent forever thinking my Vizio soundbar with the wireless sub was good enough for my little basement theater. Then my buddy brought over his old Yamaha receiver and a pair of Polk T15 bookshelf speakers he got for $60 total at a pawn shop. The difference in clarity for dialogue and the way the sound actually had depth blew my mind. Has anyone else made the switch from a soundbar to a basic receiver setup and felt like an idiot for waiting so long?

So was the dialogue really that much clearer, or was it more about the overall soundstage?

Man, I read this one review that said soundbars basically cheat by using digital processing to fake a soundstage, while even cheap separates let the audio breathe naturally. And @brian_kelly91, the dialogue clarity is legit a whole different ballgame because the center channel in a receiver handles voices without the muddiness you get from a soundbar trying to do everything from one strip. Idk, it's like going from hearing a song on a phone speaker to actually being in the room with the band.
