Spent 3 hours trying to ID a mystery weed in my backyard before realizing it was just a really tall dandelion
Stared at it through a magnifying glass for 45 minutes before my neighbor walked over and said "that's a dandelion, honey" and I felt like such a fool, has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on something that obvious?

Three hours and a magnifying glass is dedication I can respect, even if it was totally unnecessary. At least you didn't try to pull it out and measure the root system before your neighbor chimed in, that would have been the real waste of time. Best way to learn what a dandelion looks like is to spend an afternoon studying one up close, I guess.

Read that dandelions can grow taproots over a foot long. @jana_lewis16 probably would have dug for an hour just to check that fact. Got me wondering about all the other weeds I've been yanking wrong this whole time.
