Went to a board game cafe in Portland last weekend and noticed something weird
I went to this place called Game Cafe downtown last Saturday. They had like 400 games on the wall but nobody was playing anything. Every table had people on their phones. A group next to me pulled out Catan but spent 20 minutes arguing over the rules. The owner came by and said most customers just come for the coffee and wifi. He said they only sell like 2 board games a week. I felt kinda sad honestly. All those games just sitting there. Has anyone else seen a game cafe turn into more of a hangout spot than actual gaming place?

Oh actually Catan's rulebook is pretty straightforward, I think they were probably just overcomplicating it haha. But yeah that's kind of a bummer about the place being more of a coffee shop vibe than an actual game spot.
