Vent: My brisket probe snapped clean off inside the meat during a 14-hour smoke yesterday.

I had to finish the cook by feel and the bark was a little too dark, but the inside was still perfectly juicy, so has anyone else had a probe fail and how did you handle it?

Guess the brisket wanted to keep its secrets.

Man, that's a real gut punch after all those hours. Had a cheap thermometer wire melt on me once near the firebox, left the whole metal probe stuck in a pork shoulder. Finished by poking it with a skewer to check for tender, felt like a total caveman. Your brisket still being juicy is a huge win in my book, dark bark or not. Those probe failures always seem to happen at the worst possible time.
