Just found out how much wood some competition teams actually burn through
I was watching a behind the scenes video from the American Royal last year. One team captain said they used over a cord of oak just for brisket during the event. A full cord, just for one meat type over like three days. That's way more than I ever guessed. I mean, I go through maybe a quarter cord for a big backyard cook. Made me realize the scale these guys work at is just different. How do you even store and move that much wood on site?

It's like that with a lot of hobbies, you know? You start doing something for fun and then you see the pro level and it's a whole other world. I mean, I see it with my brother's car stuff, where a normal garage job turns into a shop needing a whole engine lift and special tools. The gear and the amounts just get crazy.

That American Royal detail is wild. I always figured they used more wood than us backyard folks, but a whole cord just for brisket is another level. It really shows how this is a different kind of operation.
