Looked up the weight of my backpack mid-hike and nearly laughed
Turns out my 45L pack was 38 pounds because I packed 12 Clif bars for a 3-day trip. Has anyone else found a ridiculous stat about their own gear that made you stop and repack?

Yeah I gotta say that's pretty funny. I did the same thing with coffee filters once. Threw a whole unopened brick of filters in my pack because I thought they'd be light. Then I got to camp and realized I packed enough filters for like three months of mornings. Sometimes you just grab stuff and toss it in without thinking. That Clif bar math is brutal though. Twelve bars at like 3 ounces each adds up quick.

Laughed out loud reading this because I did the exact same thing with trail mix... grabbed three big bags from Costco thinking "snacks are light" and my pack weighed 42 pounds for a two nighter. Weighed out my food bag later and it was over 8 pounds of just nuts and chocolate chips. Had to sit in the parking lot repacking while everyone else was already hitting the trail.
