Vent: the shop foreman in Bakersfield told me to stop using my impact gun on lug nuts, and a comeback on a Silverado last month proved him right
I had been zipping lugs on with my 1/2 inch impact for 6 years at 400 ft lbs until a 2019 Silverado came back with two stretched studs and a warped rotor, so now I hand thread every nut and finish with a torque wrench, and I want to know if anyone else had to learn this the hard way or if my foreman was just old school.

Wait, you were running 400 ft lbs on lug nuts for 6 years? Isn't that like double what most of those studs are even rated for?
