My buddy's kid asked why we always check the oil first and it got me thinking
Honestly, I've been doing it for 15 years because that's how I was taught, but when he said 'is it the most important thing or just the first thing you learned?', I had to stop and actually explain the real reasons to him, which made me question a lot of other routine checks I do on autopilot.

Ever have a kid ask you a question that makes you realize you're just doing things on muscle memory? I had that happen when my niece asked why I always put my keys in the same bowl by the door (it seemed silly until I explained I'd lose them otherwise). It's wild how a simple question can make you stop and actually think about your own routines, you know?

Oh man, that reminds me of when my little cousin saw me tapping my pockets before leaving. He asked if I was checking for a secret weapon. Had to explain it's just my phone, wallet, keys check. Felt like a robot in that moment, running the same program every single time. Kids just cut through all the noise we build up. Makes you wonder what else we do without even noticing.
