Crossed 500 cars I've done quarter panel work on... and the number felt weird

I was going through my old work logs for taxes and added up all the quarter panel jobs. Hit 502. It's a weird spot because on one side, that's a ton of metal cut, welded, and shaped by hand... feels like real skill. But then I think, that's also 502 cars that got hit hard enough to need that repair, which is kinda grim. My buddy at the shop says it's just proof of steady work and that I'm fast with a stud welder now. I see his point, it pays the bills. But part of me wonders if hitting a number like that means I'm just really good at fixing the same bad mistake people keep making. Does a high count on a specific repair like that make you feel more like a craftsman, or more like a cleanup crew for other people's bad days?

Ever read that thing about how a number is just a number until you attach a story to it? Sounds like you've got two stories for that 502.

Nah, I just see one story with two different chapters.
