Question about the $14 oil change spot off Moreland Ave that saved me from a $95 bill
Went to one of those quick lube chains on Ponce last month and they quoted me $95 for a basic oil change plus a list of stuff I didn't ask for. My neighbor sent me to a little independent place off Moreland Ave that did it for $14 with my own filter, and they even topped off my fluids while I waited. Has anyone else got a go-to spot in town that isn't trying to upsell you the second you pull in?
How much did you actually save after buying the filter yourself though? Like is the $14 just labor or does that include the filter, because if I'm bringing my own filter I want to know what the total comes out to. Also does that spot off Moreland do other stuff or is it just oil changes? My mechanic retired last year and I've been getting killed on basic maintenance ever since. The last place I went charged me $40 just to look at my car before they even touched anything.
