Hired my first plumber in 2009, now I fix most stuff myself
Back then I called a guy for a dripping faucet in Decatur. Cost me $180 for 20 minutes of work. Last week I watched a 10 minute video and fixed the same valve for $12 in parts. The service world changed a lot. Half the shops I used to call are gone or just do new builds now. I still use pros for gas lines and big water heaters, but small stuff? No way. Am I the only one who feels like the old local handyman network got replaced by YouTube and supply stores?
