Had the worst plumbing call ever last Tuesday in Decatur
Got a call about a backed up kitchen sink off Ponce de Leon Ave. I figured it would be a quick drain clean, but turns out the main line had tree roots growing through it at the cleanout. Spent over 4 hours digging up the yard and replacing a 6-foot section of pipe. Has anyone else dealt with root intrusion in their service work around Atlanta?

Oh man, tree roots and old clay pipes are a nightmare combo down here. I had a similar mess in Buckhead a couple years back. A big oak tree had basically wrapped its roots around the sewer line like a python. After we finally got the pipe replaced, I started telling homeowners to pour copper sulfate down the drain once a year to keep roots from growing back in. It won't fix an existing clog but it sure helps slow them down.

Kind of like how the little stuff we ignore always ends up being the bigger problem down the road.
