Back when I paid $150 for a plumber to snake a drain and it worked for a week

About five years ago, my kitchen sink backed up and I called a local plumber in Decatur. He charged me $150 to run a snake through it, said it was cleared, and left. A week later, it clogged again and I was out that money and still stuck. Learned later that sometimes they just push the blockage further down instead of pulling it out. Has anyone else had a drain re-clog fast after paying for a snake?

Down in Birmingham a few years back, I paid a guy $125 to snake a main line and he snapped the cable off in the pipe, then charged me another $80 to fish it out.

Wait, really? I used to think snaking was always the fix but after mine clogged back up in a week I figured out they just push it down to the next bend. @cameron_palmer snapping a cable off sounds way worse than my situation though so I guess I got off lucky. That whole experience made me realize plumbers don't always explain what's really happening down there.
