Finally picked a new roof color after staring at samples for a month

It came down to Owens Corning's 'Driftwood' or 'Charcoal' shingles for our ranch in Decatur. The driftwood was a bit lighter and safer, but the charcoal had more depth. We went with the charcoal and the crew finished the job last Thursday. Honestly, I was nervous it would be too dark, but with the white trim and green trees, it looks amazing. Anyone else in the area have a dark roof and notice if it gets way hotter in the attic during summer?

Bet that dark roof is gonna bake your attic though.

Worry about the heat later. Dark roofs look way better than the boring safe choice. The curb appeal is worth a couple hot afternoons.

Good call on the charcoal. That depth really makes a house look solid. Can't speak for the attic heat, but a dark roof definitely changes the whole vibe of the place.
