My refrigerator died overnight and I didn't notice until 3pm the next day

Came home from work last Tuesday and opened the fridge to grab a drink, only to find everything lukewarm and smelling like warm milk. Turns out the compressor failed sometime around 2am, and I lost about $200 worth of groceries. Has anyone else had a fridge just quit without warning like that?

That warm milk smell is basically a crime scene for your nose. Sounds like your fridge decided to take a vacation without telling anyone. At least you can save some money on groceries for a while since you'll just be eating out of pure spite now. Maybe the compressor got tired of all that cold air and decided it wanted to be room temperature for a change. Honestly, refrigerators are just big metal boxes that hold grudges.

That warm milk smell is the worst, it sticks around for days.
