I keep seeing the same compressor fail in a new fridge line, and the maker won't own up to it
I've been fixing fridges for about ten years now. Lately, I've had four calls for the same model, all with compressors that overheat and die early. For instance, one customer's unit quit after just 18 months, and the maker blamed it on poor ventilation. But I checked, and the install was perfect. It's clear to me there's a design flaw, but the company denies it. Do I warn people thinking of buying this fridge, or do I just fix them when they break? I don't want to start a fight with the brand, but it feels wrong to stay silent.

I used to avoid saying anything negative about brands, worrying it might hurt my business. After seeing a friend buy the same faulty model I'd quietly fixed, I changed my tune. Now I gently tell customers looking at that line about the pattern I've seen, framing it as my own experience. Staying quiet just lets more people get stuck with a lemon.

That's a really good way to handle it. I used to worry too, but protecting people from a bad buy builds more trust.
