Shoutout to the ant colony that found my compost bin

I've been handling my compost in my studio for months now. I keep a small bin under the sink... but last week, I saw a trail of ants leading to it. I thought I was careful with what I put in, but I guess something sweet got in there. Now I'm scared to open the bin because they might be everywhere. I don't want to stop, but it's so annoying when this stuff happens. Any ideas on keeping pests away in a small area?

Ugh, that's annoying. Wrap the bin's legs with double sided tape to block the trail. Sprinkle some cinnamon around the area, ants hate that stuff. Maybe move the bin outside if you can, even temporarily.

Ugh, I feel this. I had the same thing happen last year. I lined the outside of my bin with a thin layer of food grade diatomaceous earth, it's like a powder that messes them up. Also, maybe get a container with a rubber seal, the cheap ones always have a tiny gap. I keep mine in a big plastic tub now as a second barrier. It's a pain but it works.
