Old timer told me to stop using safety wire on clamps, now I'm torn

Been doing light engine work at a regional shop outside Phoenix for 6 years. Always safety wired every oil cooler and B-nut, no questions. Then this retired Delta guy watches me on a 737 oil cooler and says 'kid, you're adding failure points on the hoses, just use the cotter pin method on the brackets.' I switched to his way on one test install and honestly it feels cleaner, but I still get nervous about vibration. Anyone else get feedback that went against your training, and did you stick with it or go back?

Back in 2019 I had a Delta guy tell me the same thing on the JT8D oil lines. I fought it for a month, then tried his bracket method on a test rig and ran it 200 hours, zero issues. I keep a torque wrench on the B-nuts now and sleep fine.
