Borescope camera saved me after 3 hours of guessing on a fuel line leak
Working in hangar 4 at KPDX last Tuesday, I had a Cessna 172 with a weeping fuel line I couldn't trace by feel alone. Wasted a whole morning removing panels and finding nothing. Borrowed a cheap borescope from the shop next bay, snaked it behind the firewall, and spotted a cracked clamp in about 15 minutes. Anyone else keep a boroscope in their personal tool box or just rely on the company one?

That "traced by feel alone" part is what got me... how are you supposed to find a slow weep when everything is warm and oily anyway? I've had the same issue on a Piper once, spent two days chasing a seep that turned out to be a pinhole in a line I could feel fine but couldn't see. My question is, how much did that cheap borescope actually cost you, and did it hold up or did you end up borrowing it again after that? I keep thinking about buying one but I'm always worried the cheap ones will just die in a month or give me a blurry image right when I need it most.
