A pilot I respect told me my preflight checks were getting too routine and I needed to 'look at the plane like you've never seen it before'

I started physically touching each inspection point instead of just looking, and found a loose static wick on a Cessna 172 that I would have missed.

That's a great way to catch the small stuff.

Catching the small stuff is my only real skill, lucas206. The big things usually just hit me in the face.
