Worked on an algorithm for resume screening once, same deal. Still makes me uneasy how these things can mess with people's lives on autopilot lol.

Yeah the "on autopilot" part is what gets me. We build these things to save time, but then they just run in the background making huge calls with zero common sense.

See this kind of thing all the time now. Like @richard110 said, it's not just loans or resumes. From social media feeds to credit scores, algorithms shape our chances without anyone watching. Makes you wonder how many doors close silently because of a line of code. We trust these systems too much, and real people pay the price.
