After three years, my clients finally get why I don't blow out every cut

omg @holly_brown you're so right, same thing happened with my hair and now I just air dry it.

Warning: I just found out my first draft had 47 filter words

Have you ever noticed how those same words creep into how we actually talk too? I catch myself saying "just" all the time in conversations, almost like I'm apologizing for taking up space.

My buddy at the game store said I was "sleeving wrong" and I still think about it

Ugh seriously? @andrew_wood72 you're just accepting a bleed in the bottom corner like it's no big deal? I'd be losing my mind over that, especially if it's on some nice thick paper where the ink just pools. Sometimes I wonder if people even care about clean lines anymore, or if they just accept whatever the paper gives them.

The day I found out I was using the wrong brush size for 2 years

Did you ever stop to think your mentor might have just been trying to keep you from getting stuck in tight spaces? I had a similar thing happen with using too much dish soap in the dishwasher - a friend told me it cleaned better that way, so I did it for years until a repairman said it was gumming up the works. Sometimes people pass along shortcuts that work in a jam but aren't meant for everyday use. It took me way too long to realize that what works for one job might not work for another, especially when you're dealing with different materials and conditions.

Rant: The guy who told me to flip my brisket every 30 minutes still haunts me

Man that sucks. I've had a guy tell me to spritz my pork shoulder every 15 minutes to keep it moist, all it did was wash off the rub and add an extra 4 hours to the cook.
