Shoutout to the guy who told me to check my crimp before blaming the drop
Had a service call in Mesa last Thursday where the signal kept cutting out and I was sure it was the tap. Turned out one bad crimp on the ground block was the whole problem, has anyone else chased a ghost for an hour over something that dumb?
Man, I used to roll my eyes at the old guys who said check your connections first. Figured it was just something they said to sound smart while I ran around checking taps and splitters. Then I spent two hours last summer on a job where the signal was bouncing all over the place, swapped a tap, swapped a splitter, climbed the pole twice, and it was a loose F connector on the back of the modem the whole time. The center conductor was barely touching. After that I stopped acting like I was too good to check the simple stuff first. Now I do the dumb stuff before I drag out the meter, and I save myself a lot of stairs.
