inUpdate: My old way of painting trim was a total mess compared to using a paint shield
Oh man, paint shields are the best! I had the same exact problem with my door frames. I used to spend forever with tape and still mess it up. I got one of those angled shields and it made everything so much faster and cleaner. It feels way more controlled than just a brush, and you don't have to wait for tape to dry. Such a simple thing but it totally changes the job.

inMy buttercream turned into soup on a 90-degree day
That cream cheese trick is a lifesaver for sure. I keep a bag of powdered sugar in the freezer for emergencies like that. A couple tablespoons of the cold sugar can thicken a runny batch without watering down the flavor.

inA client told me my extractions were too aggressive and it made me rethink my whole approach
Fighting my skin" is such a perfect way to put it. I had a similar wake-up call when a client said my extractions felt "angry." That one word made me realize I was treating every pore like a personal enemy that needed to be conquered. I had to learn that leaving a few things behind for the health of the skin is way better than winning the battle but losing the war. My ego took a hit, but my results got way better.
