inAppreciation post: Old maps as endpapers gave my journal character.
You're spot on with how reusing materials gives a book its own story. Honestly, it's what makes handmade journals so special. Tbh, using old maps like that adds a layer of history you just can't buy new. Each crease and faded spot has a past life, and now it's part of your writing. That kind of character makes you want to pick it up and use it more. Ngl, it beats a plain store bought notebook every time.

inWhy is using dredge material for wetlands not a bigger priority?
Your no-brainer, @spencer_webb, ignores the legal headaches.

But is weekly check really needed? @skyler526 sounds over the top.

inUnpopular opinion: Letting neighbors use your bike pump is a bad idea
Stuff just gets broken sometimes. Maybe keep a cheap pump for lending. Or only loan to the one friend who actually fixes bikes.

Honestly, I get where you're coming from, but my experience is different. I lent my floor pump to my neighbor last month and he actually fixed a loose valve on it for me. If you set clear rules, like don't force the gauge, it usually works out. Tools are meant to be used, and sharing builds good relationships. Sure, there's risk, but I'd take a broken gauge over a strained friendship any day.
