Ditching my wide squat stance led to a close encounter with the gym floor

I quit squatting with a wide base... thought it would help my depth. Next thing I know, I'm leaning way too far and almost kissing the floor... not my finest moment. How do you lock in a stable stance without overthinking it?

Ever think about how your head position might be messing with your balance? If you're staring down at the floor right in front of you, your whole upper body can follow and tip you over. I try to pick a spot on the wall a few feet ahead and keep my eyes locked there the whole lift. It keeps my chest up and stops that forward lean. What spot do you focus on when you squat?

Try focusing on your foot tension instead of just the width. Really push your feet out against the sides of your shoes like you're trying to spread the floor. That grip locks everything in from the ground up.

That slight knee roll inward means you're creating proper torque from the ground.
