Cleaning up the wires behind my retro setup ruined the vibe
I tackled the cable mess behind my TV stand this weekend... Now everything's too tidy and it feels like a showroom instead of my gaming space. Why do we feel the need to make old tech look new?

I used to think neat cords looked better, but that "old tech" charm is real.

Back in 2015 I bought a ton of those Velcro cable ties for my whole media stand. I was sure a clean look was the only right way to do it. Then I saw my friend's place where his SNES and Genesis just had wires going everywhere in a heap behind the shelf, and it just felt more real and lived in. Tbh that completely flipped my view on it, the messy wires are part of the whole retro feel.
