Appreciation post: My simple way to grab the best parts of indie shows

I've seen indie bands in my area start doing something really cool lately. Instead of just playing and leaving, they're now recording bits of their live sets on the spot. I brought my old handheld recorder to a small venue last month just for fun. The sound was raw but full of life, way better than phone videos. Now I tell all my music friends to try it with any cheap recorder they have. Place it near the front to catch the crowd noise and the band's energy. It's like a time capsule of the night that you can listen back to. Sharing these clips online helps spread the word about the band too.
