Always hated opening acts, but last night's opener stole the show.

They convinced me to give new bands a real chance.

That "stole the show" line is what got me. Ever think about it from the headliner's side? Must be a weird feeling to watch some hungry new band completely drain the room's energy before you even hit the stage. Kind of a backhanded compliment for them. Makes you wonder which big names secretly dread having a killer opener. Glad it changed your mind, though.

Talk about a tough crowd to follow. Imagine spending years building a setlist just to have some kids with three chords blow the roof off before you play a note. You'd have to follow that with fireworks and a laser show just to get a clap. Maybe the headliner's real job becomes damage control after a great opener.
