The airport in Denver had these huge, ugly signs that actually worked

I was stuck there for a layover and could not miss these massive blue signs with plain white text. They were everywhere, telling you exactly where to go. At first I thought they looked cheap and boring, like a default font from a word processor. But after walking for ten minutes, I realized I hadn't gotten lost once. Has anyone else found a place where 'bad' design is secretly the most helpful?

You mentioning the "cheap and boring" look really hits home. I used to be a graphic design student, and I would have hated those signs. I thought everything needed style. But then I had to use a government website to renew my license. It was all plain text and blue links, no pictures at all. It loaded fast on my old phone and I found the form in about ten seconds. That ugly site did its job better than any fancy one I've seen.

Exactly, @tyler_hernandez. Function over flash wins every time.
