So when you look at a sunset, are you grabbing the exact colors or is it more the feeling that gets translated? I've pulled palettes from weird places, like the muted tones on old paperback book covers or the way colors fade on a worn out street sign. It's never a direct copy, more like catching a vibe from something that already works in the real world. Where else have you stumbled on a color combo that just clicked for a project?

That "catching a vibe" thing is spot on. I once pulled a palette from the sky right before a nasty thunderstorm, those weird green and grey tones. Had to bump up the saturation a bit for the design, but it kept that tense, charged feeling.
