Warning: Cooling glass fast caused endless cracks for me

I used to cool my pieces right after shaping. Seemed like a time saver. But they would crack almost every time. Stopped doing that two months ago. Now I anneal them slowly in the kiln. My last ten pieces all came out solid. Saved a lot on replacement glass too.

How did you settle on your slow anneal method after all those cracks? @betty_davis40 talked about patience, but did you follow a set kiln schedule or just guess at the cool down time? I mean, did you test different temperatures to get it right? My own tries with fast cooling led to breaks too, so your fix sounds smart. Sharing your steps could really help folks stop wasting glass.

Rushing the cool down always ends in tears, honestly. Found out after wrecking a few pieces that patience is key. A slow anneal in the kiln saves so much headache and glass.
