Tbh, I'm torn over polishing rocks for my garden walkway.

I'm redoing my backyard and have smooth river rocks for a path. Some folks say polishing stops slips and looks neat, but others think it wrecks the natural vibe. What do you all think I should do?

Man, are we really getting this worked up over some rocks? Tbh, they're gonna get dirty and weathered again in like a year anyway. Ngl, both sides have a point, but it feels like we're overthinking a garden path. Just do what you want, it's not like you're paving a national monument.

Don't do it... kills the charm. Ugh polish them and they just look fake and plastic, like something from a mall fountain... The whole point of river rocks is that rough, natural texture under your feet. Sure they get slick when wet, but so does everything, just be a little careful. I'd much rather have the real look than some shiny, uniform path.

Polished rocks can still keep a natural look if done right... they don't have to end up like mall decor. That smooth surface actually feels nicer to walk on, especially barefoot in the garden. Sure, rough texture has its place, but for a path you use every day, comfort matters too. Plus, polished stones can be safer for kids or older folks who might trip on uneven edges. It's all about finding a balance between looks and function.
