Serious question, has anyone else compared the new 'AI' smart plugs to the basic programmable ones?

I bought a two-pack of those trendy voice-controlled plugs for my living room lamps, but after three weeks of them randomly not responding, I switched back to my old $15 timer plug from the hardware store. The basic one just works every single night at 7 PM without needing an app update or a strong wifi signal. What's a gadget that you bought for the 'smart' features but ended up preferring the dumb version?

Smart locks are another one... keypad beats app any day.

My old Nest thermostat got replaced by a simple dial model after it kept changing the schedule on its own. Felt like I was constantly fighting with an app just to be comfortable. Sometimes the tech that just does one job well is way less stressful. I'm totally with you on going back to basics.
