Warning: my plant swap morning turned into a three hour "favor" chain
Last Saturday I put out a call for someone to water my ferns while I was out of town. My across the hall guy, Rick, said yes, but only if I'd feed his cat on Tuesday. Tuesday came, the cat was fine, but Rick's sink was dripping, so I loaned him my wrench. He then fixed Mrs. Chen's mailbox latch, who baked us both bread. By noon, five units on our floor had traded tools, pet care, and a bag of mulch for one simple cactus soak. Has anyone else had a small favor snowball into a whole afternoon of running errands for people you barely knew before? I'm half tempted to start a schedule board in the elevator just to keep it all straight.
