TIL a huge chunk of freelancers have zero emergency fund

I was reading a report from the Freelancers Union last night, and it said 63% of full-time freelancers have less than $500 saved for a slow month or an emergency. I found it on their website's research page. That number hit me because I'm definitely in that group, lmao. How do you even start building a buffer when work is already so up and down?

Yeah, that "less than $500 saved" stat is so real.

That "less than $500 saved" stat is exactly what @ivan40 said, it's too real. When work is already so up and down, where do you even find the extra money to save? I try to put away a tiny bit from every single payment, but it feels impossible some months.
