Picked up a free couch off Craigslist and learned a valuable lesson about bedbugs

Saw a listing for a nice sectional in my neighborhood last week, looked clean in the photos. Loaded it into my truck, brought it home, and started getting bites that same night. Had to call an exterminator for 300 bucks and toss the couch. Anyone else get burned by free furniture?

Did you check it for bugs before hauling it inside? I used to grab free stuff too but not anymore.

Friend of mine grabbed a free couch off the curb once. Looked fine, no rips or stains. Three days later he found bed bugs crawling out of the seams. He had to throw the couch out and spend like 400 bucks on heat treatment for his whole apartment.
