Spent 2 hours figuring out why my roses were wilting right after cutting

Turns out I was using the wrong angle on my pruners and crushing the stems instead of making a clean cut. Now I always sharpen before a big order. Anyone else notice a difference in vase life based on your cutting tool?

The angle thing is overblown honestly. I've been cutting roses with dull shears for years and they last just as long as when I use sharp ones. Maybe it's the variety or something else entirely. Most people blame their tools when the real issue is the water temp or bacterial buildup in the vase. A clean cut from a dull blade still works fine if you strip the lower leaves properly and change the water daily. But hey, if sharpening your pruners makes you feel better, more power to you.

Bought fancy sharp pruners last year, still forget to clean the vase half the time.
