Went to the electronics recycling drop-off in Spokane and saw a stack of perfectly fixable PS2s just sitting there.
I get that people want to declutter, but tossing a console that just needs a $5 laser lens replacement feels like such a waste when there are guides and parts everywhere online.

Grabbed a PS3 with a dead hard drive from my local e-waste bin last year. Found a cheap replacement drive online and followed a YouTube tutorial to reinstall the system software. Took maybe an hour total and now it runs perfectly. Honestly half the fun was fixing the thing myself, and it saved a console from the landfill.

Ugh that's so frustrating to see. I mean you're right about the waste, but just a heads up, a lot of those PS2s get pulled by the workers or volunteers before they're scrapped. I've seen guys at my local spot set the good stuff aside for repair or resale. Maybe it's just me but I hope that's what happened there instead of them getting crushed.
