Finally figured out why my chain kept slipping on the big hill

Tried replacing the cassette and chain separately but it still slipped until I learned you have to replace both at the same time to match the wear patterns. Anyone else waste money on just one part first before figuring that out?

idk maybe it's just me but I learned that lesson the hard way too after wasting cash on a chain alone first.

Saw this article the other day about how rocks actually bond better with the chain if you use a small piece of cloth or plastic between them. The lady who wrote it said her rocks kept falling off until she tried that trick. Funny how we all seem to figure this out the hard way (like buying a whole new chain first). The cloth thing makes a huge difference by the way, keeps the knot from sliding loose. Maybe give that a shot next time you try again, saved me from tossing another chain in the drawer of shame.
