Ngl I was wrong about spray foam insulation in my attic
Honestly I thought spray foam was overkill until I found a massive gap around my attic hatch last weekend. It was bleeding heat like crazy and my upstairs was freezing. I sealed it with a $12 can of Great Stuff and a pair of gloves. Has anyone else had a drafty spot that turned out to be way simpler to fix than you thought?

I mean yeah it's easy to look back and say check it sooner, but most people don't know how much heat bleeds out of a simple hatch until they actually feel it. I had the same thing with my basement rim joist last winter - cold air was just pouring in through this tiny crack I'd ignored for years. You kind of have to get to that point of being sick of freezing rooms before you actually look around for the source. It's not like they teach this stuff in school, you know? So I get why the OP didn't catch it right away.
