Finally got the water line hooked up after 3 false starts
Thought I'd have the trench dug and pipe laid in one afternoon but ended up hitting a gas line marker I didn't see until day 2. Took me a full week to get everything buried and inspected. Has anyone else had a simple utility hookup turn into a multi day nightmare?

Had a similar nightmare with a sewer line last summer. Thought it was a 2 day job tops and ended up spending 8 days because the ground was solid clay and my shovel broke on day 3. Had to rent a mini excavator and even that got stuck in mud for an afternoon. Inspectors made me redo a section cause the slope was off by like half a foot.

Not to be that person but is it really that big of a deal? Water line hookups are pretty straightforward if you just call 811 first. Sounds like you made it way harder than it had to be.
