Debate: Should we pre-drill post holes in rocky soil or just power through with a sharpened bar?
I was talking to a crew from out near Flagstaff last week and they swear pre-drilling saves hours, but my old foreman always said a good digger tip does the job in half the time. Which way do you go when you hit basalt or shale, and has anyone tested both on a single job to see which really holds up?

Only one way to find out - ask the guys digging by hand which one they hate less.
