That $50 fabric I bought for a dress just shredded on my serger needle
Bought this nice stretch crepe from a local shop in Portland last weekend, and the moment I ran it through my Babylock the needle punched holes that just kept running. Anyone else run into fabric that basically disintegrates under a standard ballpoint needle?

Wait, 50 bucks for stretch crepe from a local shop in Portland? That's wild to me. I mean, I've spent that much on fabric before but usually it's like a nice Italian wool or something sturdy, not something that sounds like it fell apart that fast. Idk, maybe it's just me but I would have expected a $50 yard of crepe to be way better quality than that. Did you check if it was maybe a knit that was mislabeled or something? I've had that happen before where a fabric looked like stretch crepe but was actually a cheap double knit that couldn't handle a needle at all.

Microtex needle and a stabilizer strip, stretch crepe is total garbage without the right setup.
