My best design day started with a thrift store coat from 1987
Honestly, I found this oversized wool coat for $8 at a Goodwill in Portland last Saturday. The shoulder pads were massive and the lining was totally shredded, but the fabric was this unique herringbone tweed I never see anymore. I cut it apart that afternoon and used the fabric to make a cropped jacket with asymmetrical buttons, and it turned out way better than I expected. Has anyone else had a lucky find like that where one piece of clothing sparked a whole new design direction?

That $8 coat paid off way better than the fancy fabric I bought full price last month.

ruby494 that's a solid win. I read somewhere that cheap finds usually end up being the most worn stuff in your closet.
