That old farrier who said my nippers were too dull saved me a lot of money
Old Bill at the Kentucky Horseshoeing School told me to stop fighting with dull nippers and get them sharpened every 8 to 10 horses. I thought he was just being picky, but after 3 months of forcing cuts, my wrist started aching and I was leaving ragged edges on every hoof. Switched to a weekly sharpening routine with a guy in Lexington and now my cuts are clean with half the effort. Anyone else have a veteran farrier drop advice you wish you listened to sooner?

8 horses before sharpening? That sounds like insanity to me.

Wait, are you saying you go through eight horses in one session or across multiple?
