Switched to a double-ended post vise and my forge work got way cleaner in about 2 weeks
The old single screw one was fine for years but I kept getting shaky work on long shoes. Has anyone else noticed a big difference after upgrading their vise setup?

Man yeah that double ended post vise made a huge difference for me too. I didn't realize how much the single screw was racking until I switched and everything just locked in place.

Nah I gotta disagree a bit here. Been using a single screw post vise for 12 years now and my long shoes hold steady. The trick for me was bolting the vise foot down solid to a heavy stump and keeping the screw greased every month. Might be more about the mount than the vise itself.
