Rant: A 3-day old colt in Cheyenne taught me to always pack extra rasp handles.

The little guy kicked mine into a water trough on the second hoof, and the backup saved me a 40-mile round trip to town. Anyone else have a go-to piece of gear they learned to double-check after one bad day?

My old gelding snapped a lead rope right at the clip during a freak spook last spring. Ever since then I keep two extras in my truck box, not just one. That colt move is classic, they always seem to find the water.

My farrier buddy in Laramie swears by keeping three spare nippers in his rig after a similar incident.
